From The Farm...Friday, May 09, 2008We have updated our website, so be sure to hit your refresh button while on our site to see the latest changes. 2008 UPDATE We are now sold out of shares. We are really sold out, so please understand we cannot accommodate any more requests for memberships, even from members of past seasons. Also, we do not sell produce retail or wholesale, or coordinate buying clubs. Lastly, our waiting list for 2008 is already quite lengthy, so please go to www.localharvest,org to find other produce farms to meet your needs. For those of you who are members of the 2008 season, our 2008 handbooks are on the website now. If you are a boxed share member, please go to the Join Us page, then click "Boxed Share"; on farm pick up members can click "On-Farm Pick Up" and scroll to the bottom of the pages. Please read the latest edition of our monthly newsletter, The Local Harvest, found on this website for the latest news from the farm. WHEN WILL THE FARM OPEN? Opening Day varies from year to year, so either call the Veggie Hotline at 609-737-8899 or check this webpage after May 15th to get an update. Remember, everything we distribute is grown in central Jersey, so local weather conditions determine when Opening Day will be. So far, it looks like we will have an early PYO herb and strawberry season! Once we open for PYO strawberries and herbs, you may come on your designated day of the week to pick your share. For example, if we open for strawberry and herb picking on a Saturday, but your pick up day is on a Monday, your first day to pick will be the Monday after the Saturday Opening Day. We ask that during the first week of PYO strawberries that you not switch your pick up day, but come out to pick only on your designated day. Boxed Share members may come out any day of the week for PYO, provided that you come one day a week. VISITS TO OUR FARMS We understand that everyone gets excited during early spring, in anticipation of the farm's opening day. Please understand that our farms are open for CSA members to visit only during our market season (generally, mid-May to mid-November). The office is staffed on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 5pm. Otherwise, this is a private living space, so we appreciate your respect of our privacy, and ask that you visit the farm only during the time of year we are open to the public. It is unsafe for people to be out in the fields or elsewhere when farm staff, some on dangerous heavy equipment, are not expecting people to be around. Also, please mail all correspondence to us rather than dropping it off, where it may get lost in mounds of seed catalogues, tractor manuals, etc. Visitors who are not CSA members and not accompanied by members during the market season must pre-arrange all farm visits through our office. All groups of 10 or more people, even if accompanied by a CSA member, must call the office prior to visiting us, as well as all members of the media, including professional photographers. Please email Sherry at sherry@honeybrookorganicfarm.com or call 609-737-8899 for more information. Also, please do not park at the farm if you are visiting the area to recreate, and are not visiting the farm during our market season. There is parking for recreational purposes at the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association’s Reserve. Please visit their website at www.thewatershed.org for more information. posted by Jim 10:05 AM
